DESTINATION WEDDINGS

Imagine walking up the aisle on an exotic beach at sunset. Destination weddings (all-in-one wedding and honeymoon) are becoming increasingly popular. As you create your destination wedding there are several considerations to think of:

Location: Where do you dream of getting married? Do you want to fly or take a cruise? Do you want to be in the same hotel as your guests for the honeymoon or do you want to be in a villa nearby?

Family and Friends: Will guests be invited? Feelings of family and friends can, and probably will, be hurt if they feel slighted. If you do hope to have a gathering of family and friends to witness your nuptials, you’ll have to consider whether the trip is something they can afford. Or consider having a reception when you arrive home as newlyweds.

Cost: Will you and your guests be able to afford the cost of flying to another area, staying in a hotel and paying wedding costs? Will you assist your wedding party with arriving at the destination or will you have your travel agent work on package deals for everyone? When planned properly, a destination wedding can not only save you off the cost of a traditional wedding, it can also turn your wedding day into an unforgettable “mini-vacation” for you and your guests.

Wedding Dress: Will you be wearing a formal designer dress or a less formal beach wedding dress? How will you pack it and get it to your destination? Your travel agent should be able to help you with luggage delivery services as well.

Legalities: What is involved in getting married in your destination city or country? Will you need a blood test? What types of identification are required? Will your marriage be legal and binding in that country? Thoroughly research this before making any travel arrangements.
