LOCAL HONEYMOONING
Traditionally the man makes the honeymoon plans. I know you may want a tropical romantic trip. Think realistically, can the two of you afford a grand getaway? If the answer is no, that is ok, dont stress about it. Keep it local, save up for that big trip and do it later the way you really want to. This will help keep the stress out of your wedding plans and off the groom.
Surprisingly most men can come up with something really romantic when it is within their comfort zone (local stuff). Yes there are places within a 1-6 hour drive that can be a romantic place. What do you really do on a honeymoon anyway? Cuddle up together, eat, drink, do a little sightseeing and curl up again.
Here are a few local spots that can create that romantic feel:
Savannah/Hilton Head dinner river cruises, river walk, trolley tours and great restaurants Lake Lanier go to the beach without hitting the coast, fresh seafood, resorts and romance Lake Oconee water sports, luxury accommodations or a cabin getaway Augusta river walk, a romantic gazebo and quaint shops Destin, FL view the gulf from your room, resorts, spas, shopping, food and nonstop fun Golden Isles cottages, B&B, resorts, romance at its best and stroll hand in hand on the beach Columbus river walk, shopping, museums and drive to Phoenix City, AL for more history Resorts and Spas Pine Lake & Peachtree City, GA. Ashville and Cherokee NC, and casinos
As a travel planner I have created many honeymoons on a tight budget. Some have been just staying at a local hotel in a suite and I go to the room and put champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, rose petal trails to the bed and make a heart shape in the bed with the petals.
Honeymoons dont have to be a week. You can do just a weekend or a 4-5 night trip. You can save up to 50% in some places by going during the week or traveling off-season in the fall. I get deals all the times with 25%-75% savings to give my clients the best deals around.
