Wedding Favor Ideas
Summer wedding favors can be fun and creative. Beach themes using shells are most popular. Sandals, lotions, and oils also make great summer wedding favors. If you don’t have the budget to purchase favors, here are a few simple ideas for making your own.
Decorative Shells: Collect various types of shells along the beach, purchase bulk quantities online or from a store. Drill a small hole in the top. Attach ribbon and a card.
Shell Name Cards: Purchase cardstock shell shapes from a craft store. Write your guest’s name and table number on each shell. Place in a large tub filled with sand and place at the reception entrance.
Hand Fans: These are great favors for outdoor summer weddings. They can also be used as the ceremony program. All you need is a printer, cardstock paper, craft sticks, and a stapler.
Shell Lollipops: Mix 3 3/4 cup sugar, 1 1/2 cups light corn syrup and 1 cup water in a large saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Boil without stirring until temperature reaches 310 degrees, then remove from heat. After boiling has ceased, stir in 1 teaspoon flavoring and coloring. Pour into shell-shaped cooking molds and attach candy sticks.
Message in a Bottle: Purchase small odd shaped bottles that have corks in the top. Put scented flowers petals or sand in the bottom of the bottle and include a romantic poem or verse printed on parchment paper.
